Discover a region with a rich heritage
The medieval village of Châtillon en Diois owes its name to the castle’s old ramparts . Altough there’s nothing much left of the castle itself, the Reviron fountain and what remains of the town hall fresco are also worth the visit.
L’hôtel du Dauphiné is nestled at the foot of the Glandasse (southernmost cliffs of the Vercors mountains), close to the Cirque d’Archiane. The Bez river runs by it. Châtillon-en- Diois has a particularly rich architectural heritage, with its small alleys, fountains, traditional vinyard « cabanons ». Its the starting point for numerous outdoor activities : hiking, snowshoing, biking, mountainbiking, via-ferrata, climbing, tree-climbing, canyoning, canoeing… While staying in this natural and unspoilt environment, you will get to admire the local flora and fauna (marmots, mountain goats and beavers inhabit the area).
In Châtillon-en-Diois, le Bistroquet of the hôtel du Dauphiné serves traditional food with a touch of Mediterranean cuisine. The chef, Abdel Barakat makes delicious dishes from locally-grown produce. Home-made morel, lemon and walnut « ravioles’ (local ravioli) are among the restaurants famous specialities.
